Softgel Contract Manufacturing

Cannabis softgel manufacturing, made in Canada.

Lupos (Canada) Biotechnology is a B2B cannabis softgel contract manufacturer and white-label producer for Licensed Producers and established brands, operating from a GPP-licensed facility in Markham, Ontario. Minimum order is 75,000 softgels (2,500 bottles of 30), with a standard turnaround of 6–8 weeks and a 3–4 week rush option.

What we make

Precision-dosed cannabis and hemp softgels — custom multi-cannabinoid blends (THC, CBD, CBG, CBN) with terpenes, formulated to your specification as a turnkey, white-label program from fill development to finished bottle. The hard part of a cannabis softgel isn't the machine; it's everything below.

Two tolerances, held at once

A cannabis softgel has to satisfy two legal bands simultaneously. Under section 97 of the Cannabis Regulations, content must stay within 85–115% of the labelled THC/CBD (±15%); under Health Canada's net-weight tolerance, a discrete unit at this size must stay within 10% of its declared weight — and each ingested unit is capped at 10 mg THC. The catch: the fill is a viscous distillate whose potency varies lot to lot, so a fraction of a milligram of fill drift moves both numbers at once. Hitting both bands, every batch, is the whole game.

We close that gap with process control, not a costly trial run. We assay every distillate lot, tune the fill to land the centre of the band — not just inside the legal limit, and hold it with tight in-process checks across the run. On-spec potency and weight, batch after batch.

Yield lives in the seam

Leakers are the single biggest yield-killer in softgel production: every manufacturer hits them, and they come from seams that seal too thin, fills that aren't compatible with the gelatin, or a drying window that runs too hot (cracked shells) or too wet (soft, weepy capsules). Oil-based cannabis fills make every one of those failure modes live. A controlled fill-and-drying process is what protects your yield — and your unit economics — at 75,000 softgels and up.

Colour starts in the distillate

A softgel shell shows whatever is inside it, so batch-to-batch colour drift isn't a shell problem — it's an extract problem. We control it upstream by starting from the best inputs: golden distillate and white isolate, cleaned through our proprietary de-waxing and colour-removal process that strips waxes and colour without sacrificing yield. Clean input in, consistent shelf colour out.

Testing that's thorough, not redundant

Every Health Canada–required test is done, full stop. What experience adds is judgment: we design lean testing plans that meet the regulation and verify what matters — and we don't bill you for redundant, duplicate testing that adds cost without adding assurance.

Who we work with

Licensed Producers adding softgels to their portfolio without capital investment in encapsulation equipment. First-time softgel programs — we bring an established encapsulation process and the analytical bench to dial your formula in to spec, so a first run lands on target; note this is a production program, not a small-quantity trial (the MOQ is 75,000). Brands without a processing licence — as a licensed processor, Lupos manufactures white-label and private-label softgels under our licence so you can sell compliantly in Canada. Established brands expanding into a new format, and international buyers whose documentation has to hold up to their own regulator — Lupos already exports to Australia.

Quality and compliance

Softgels are produced under Good Production Practices (GPP) under the Cannabis Act in euGMP-ready cleanrooms, supported by 6 PhDs on staff. Health Canada audits us regularly, and we build every record to hold up in yours — batch records and COAs arrive ready for regulated review.
